“We want to vote in Bucharest more than the Communists can steal in Chisinau,” said Daniel Brunescu, president of the National Union of Bessarabian Youth’s branch in Iasi, according to the Bucharest daily “Truth”, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. According to Brunescu, the young people chose to vote in Bucharest instead of risking being stopped at customs posts by the Moldovan authorities. “We did not go home to vote because we were afraid to cross the border given the existing conflict. There are about 500 members of our organization that were to go home and we could not take the risk of being sent back from the border,” Brunescu said. The Bessarabians that came to vote in Bucharest want changes and are optimistic about the election outcome, the president of the National Union of Bessarabian Youth’s branch in Iasi also said. The Moldovans that are in Romania can vote at two polling stations opened at the Embassy and the Consulate of Moldova in Bucharest using Moldovan passports. The stations will be open until 21.00.
