The projects to interconnect the electric power and natural gas transportation systems of Moldova and Romania were included in the list of Projects of Energy Community Interest and Projects of Mutual Interest. Such a decision was taken in a meeting of the Energy Community Ministerial Council, IPN reports.
According to Deputy Minister of Economy Valeriu Triboi, who represented Moldova at the 14th Ministerial Council of the Energy Community, the given decision was taken at the suggestion of the Permanent High Level Group of the Energy Community.
The official noted that the status of Projects of Mutual Interest enables to promote these projects as priorities, including with possible financing from the European Union, in addition to the financing that was already approved within other mechanisms.
As a result of this decision, the implementation of the projects to build the high-tension power line Isaccea-Vulcanesti-Chisinau, of 400 kV, with a Back-to-Back station, and the second stage of the project to build the Iasi-Ungheni-Chsinau gas pipeline becomes a priority for the Energy Community, which will become involved in their implementation.
