The Romanian television channel TVR1 will be fully retransmitted on Moldova’s territory for 24 hours. On September 12, the Moldovan and Romanian authorities closed the negotiations on cooperation in the retransmission of program services by public broadcasters.
The president of the Romanian Television Society (SRTv) Claudiu Saftoiu and Moldova’s governmental agent Lilian Apostol signed an agreement on amicably settling the dispute following the application filed by TVR against Moldova to the European Court of Human Rights. The document was signed in the presence of Romanian Premier Victor Ponta and Romanian Foreign Minister Titus Corlatean, Romanian Minister of Justice Robert Cazanciuc and Moldovan Minister of Justice Oleg Efrim.
Under the agreement, the Moldovan authorities and the Government will allocate a segment of the first multiplexor with national coverage in the new digital system, which is being introduced, to TVR1. Until the full implementation of the digital system, the Moldovan authorities will take a series of measures to ensure the return of TVR1 to the broadcasting space of Moldova. The cable operators will be able to retransmit the programs provided by SRTv.
