“Despite certain blockage attempts, despite all the grave and unfounded accusations, like the spying charges brought against journalist Ernest Vardanyan, the Transnistrian settlement process has obtained what the Moldovan government wanted, a positive dynamic and increased attention from all the international partners”, stated Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Victor Osipov, after the Government's ordinary meeting on Wednesday, Info-Prim Neo reports. Speaking about the talks held with Tiraspol's representative in the settlement process on May 19, Victor Osipov said that he presented to Vladimir Iastrebceak a full list of measures aimed to build confidence. “I presented a number of proposals concerning the full resumption of railway traffic , concerning the delivery of isotopes for screening equipment at the Tiraspol oncologic hospital; our proposals also included the optimization of the confidence-building working groups in different areas, which today are not entirely harmonized, and the number of groups, in our opinion, should be increased in order to intensify dialogue between the two sides of the Nistru, which is key for the resolution of the problems faced by the people in the region”, said Osipov. Concerning the recent Russo-Ukrainian declaration on the Transnistrian settlement, Osipov said: “Ukraine is willing to play a more active role in stepping up the settlement process It is important that this fact was acknowledged both by the government and the Supreme Rada opposition”. Osipov went on to add that OSCE has never had a firmer position on the resumption of the negotiations than that expressed in Astana at the informal summit earlier this week . “The next round of 5+2 talks can very well be official”, said Victor Osipov.
