The political parties in Moldova prefer to believe in their internal surveys rather than the external sociological polls. Representatives of the PCRM, PLDM, PL, PDM and AMN discussed the issue at the May 10 program “In Profunzime” on PRO TV Chisinau channel, basing on the results of a poll conducted by the Marketing and Polling Institute IMAS-INC Chisinau, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to IMAS-INC, the Communists Party (PCRM) would win 28% of the vote, being trusted by a lower percentage of people - 35% of the respondents, while its leader Vladimir Voronin is trusted by 36%. “According to our data, the PCRM's popular approval rating is increasing. We are calm. These polls represent settling of accounts between the parties that formed the government coalition, which want to know who heads the Alliance,” said Communist lawmaker Grigore Petrenco. The sociological survey conducted by IMAS-INC shows the rating of the Moldova Noastra Alliance (AMN) and its leader Serafim Urechean decreased to 11%. The first vice president of the AMN Victor Osipov said this is mainly because of the conflicts that arouse inside the party when a number of MPs left the party. The popular approval rating of the Democratic Party (PDM) has also diminished. The party's president of honor Dumitru Diacov said he was not concerned as he knows the real situation in districts and other polls show more optimistic figures. “The PDM played a decisive part in the formation of the Alliance for European Integration. After other elections, our party will again hold the key to the formation of the government,” said Dumitru Diacov. The poll shows the PDM would win only 9% of the vote, while the rating of leader Marian Lupu decreased from 46% to 42%. According to the pol, the Liberal Party (PL) would lose half of its voters and would obtain only 5% of the vote. The party's vice president Dorin Chirtoaca considers the polls point to a switch of the parties from the electoral period to reality. “I consider things stand differently. It is not for the first time that we hear such things. The number of our voters is on the rise. We should not forget that the number of undecided voters is also high,” Dorin Chirtoaca said. At the same time, the rating of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) rose to 35%. 39% of those questioned trust the leader of the PLDM Vlad Filat, while the party would poll 17% of the vote. “These surveys must not be regarded as icons to which we should bow. We must analyze the developments. I think this increased support is due to the correct behavior of Prime Minister Vlad Filat and the assistance of the government coalition,” said Vitalie Nagacevschi, a Liberal-Democrat MP. The poll was carried out by IMAS-INC during April 15 and May 3, 2010. It covered a representative sample of 1,054 persons aged older than 18. The margin of sampling error is ±3.
