Moldovan Prime Minister Zinaida Greceanyi flew this morning to Kiev to negotiate gas supply issues with the Ukrainian authorities, Info-Prim Neo learned from the governmental press service.
Senior Deputy Prime Minister Igor Dodon yesterday said Moldova was being constantly provided with gas through two pipelines, but amounts we limited.
Russian media was reporting today that Gazprom published a letter from Ukraine's Naftogaz admitting it can transit gas to the EU. And, according to Gazprom, this proves Kiev was lying when it cited "technical problems" as a reason for not transiting gas on several earlier occasions.
“Today we received a letter from Naftogaz saying they could send 99 million cubic meters through the Sudzha pipeline to Europe. That shows Naftogaz always did have the possibility of doing so”, Gazprom spokesman Sergey Kupriyanov was quoted by Russia Today as saying.
According to the Ukrainian media, Naftogaz had repeatedly requested that the transit be rerouted from Sudzha to Valuiky and Pisarevka entry point, but Gazprom never did so. Naftogaz also asked Russia for free technical gas as a condition for pumping gas forward, yet this plea was also ignored.
