A group of about 20 people of culture called on the political class to keep the ruling alliance. In a news conference, they said they subscribe to President Nicolae Timofti’s call to the rulers to stop accusing each other. They asked the PLDM to renounce their decision to withdraw from the alliance, the PDM – to abandon the ‘zero variant’, while the PL – to confirm the decision to maintain the alliance, Info-Prim Neo reports. Academician Mihai Cimpoi said that Moldova is at a crossroads when the partisan ambitions of parties are put above the national interests. He stated that the current political crisis pushes Moldova towards a dangerous precipice for democracy, sovereignty and the European course. “The political crisis must be overcome by renouncing the narrow party interests and by continuing to promote the alliance’s European political program,” said the academician. Academician Nicolae Dabija said that Moldova needs unity, but, more important, stability. According to him, the danger of the Eurasian Union hangs over Moldova. “A common customs means common administration, common policy. That’s why we must protect our children from it. The AEI must put the national interest above the personal vainglory. Otherwise, we will be condemned by history,” stated the writer. Writer Andrei Strambeanu said that the Moldovan young people are children for export because they do not want to remain in Moldova. “Their struggle has nothing in common with the interests of the Moldovan people. We are hostage of a political class and demagogues who came to power. They know that we will not vote for the Communists and thus mock us,” he said. In the middle of February, Vlad Filat announced that the PLDM decided to leave the alliance. The PDM demanded that Vlad Filat resign. On March 5, the legislative body will debate a censure motion against the Government, put forward by the Communists.
