The European Action Movement (MAE) Party has expressed its deep concern with the situation in Georgia, a sovereign and independent state, following “the invasion of Russian troops” in this country. “Bloody scenes orchestrated by the Kremlin in Azerbaijan, Georgia and the Republic of Moldova are repeating there”, the party said in a statement, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. The MAE deplores the absence of an official reaction from the Moldovan authorities to the “Russian aggression against Georgia”, a GUAM member state, like Moldova. “The silence of Chisinau reveals its complicity with the Kremlin”, the statement reads. The MAE calls on the Parliament, the Cabinet, the Supreme Security Council “to meet without delay and condemn the act of aggression by the Russian Federation against the Georgian people, to give a clear judgment to the imperial policy followed by Russia in the former Soviet colonies”. “The former Russian colonies as well as the US, the European Union, NATO, OSCE, and the UN must change radically their policies on settling the frozen conflicts in the ex-Soviet space”, MAE states. According to the statement, Russia, “as an aggressor state, has completely compromised its role as a peace keeper. A real solution for these conflicts is only possible by actively engaging neutral international peacekeeping forces under the aegis of the UN, while for the Republic of Moldova it is important to engage in effective cooperation along the axes Washington-Bruxelles (UE and NATO)-Bucharest-Kiev”, the European Action Movement believes.
