A memorandum of understanding between Moldova’s Parliament and the Chamber of Deputies of the Romanian Parliament was signed in Chisinau, within the visit paid by a delegation headed by the Chamber’s chairman Valeriu Zgonea. The document envisions experience exchange and support on the part of the Romanian deputies in the European course for their Moldovan colleagues, IPN reports.

Head of Parliament Andrian Candu said this memorandum lays the basis of a new stage of cooperation between the two institutions, which will strengthen Moldova’s European integration efforts. “We will enjoy the technical support and expertise needed to implement the Association Agreement with the EU. The message of political support on the economic dimension is being applied. We are yet to discuss a number of issues, such as the railway and air transport so that Chisinau is regarded as an internal destination of Romania in terms of costs,” he stated.

Valeriu Zgonea noted that the memorandum means the transfer of the expertise gained by Romania during the eight years of membership in the EU. “We are making effort to achieve the strategic objectives we set - to have Europeans on both banks of the Prut River. We want to support you so that the European course is fast and without hurdles,” he said.

The Romanian official also said he think that Moldova needs not a revolution, but evolution. “The citizens no longer have patience. They want to live better, in a safer country and in the prosperity they see in Romania. I’m confident that Andrian Candu will be supported by the current pro-European coalition to fulfill the assumed commitment. Regardless of the obstacles, you must keep your word. Regardless of the interests pursued by one or another, do what you promised to the people and continue to reform the state, while the Parliament of Romania will support you. Romania includes all the parties, which means that the whole political class supports you. Romania remains the same friend and brother that you have,” he stated.

Valeriu Zgonea added that the parliamentary activity should be at the service of the people, the legislation should be transparent and the whole political class should struggle for independent justice as namely the independent justice will foster the country’s economic development.
