It was an exceptional year for the Moldovan rugby player Oleg Prepelita. After winning Russia’s cup and championship with Krasnyi Yar, the 30-year-old player was named the best rugby player this season in Russia’s championship. The poll was conducted among players involved in Russia’s championship.

“When the fans told me that I was chosen the best, I didn’t believe them. I’m very glad. It was an exceptional year for me. Recently, I extended the contract with Krasnyi Yar for another three years,” Oleg Prepelita, who in his career played for such teams as Dinamo Bucuresti, Steaua Bucuresti, Arka Gdynea, Benfica Lisabon, and Spartak Moscow, has told IPN.

The fourth position in the rankings is taken by Moldova’s Maxim Cobilas, who also plays for Krasnyi Yar. This team also includes Veaceslav Titica and Victor Arhip. All the four players, who are members of the national team, suffered no defeat in the official matches. They are competing for qualifications in group 1A of the European Nations Cup.

“We are yet to play with Ukraine, Poland and the Czech Republic and I’m sure that we will beat them. We are 99% sure we will qualify. We have never had such chances before,” said Prepelita.

The encounters with Ukraine at home and Poland and the Czech Republic away will take place next spring.
