A Moldovan national was found injured after a bridge collapsed in the Italian city of Genoa, announced the Moldovan Ministry of European Affairs and European Integration. The man is being treated for multiple injuries in a local hospital, as his life is not at risk.
The 100 meters’ tall suspension bridge, built in the 1960s as part of a major motorway linking the Italian coast to the French Riviera, crumbled down on Tuesday in heavy rainfall. The Italian press counted the death toll at 39. A Moldovan with double citizenship was among the dead.
Prime Minister Pavel Filip extended his sympathy to the Italian people and the grieving families. He also promised the Moldovan authorities will assist with repatriating the body of our compatriot.
