A minor Moldovan citizen identified without an accompanying adult was repatriated at the end of last week. The 17-year-old boy is native of Chisinau. He was detained by the Irish authorities for theft. As he did not come of age and cannot be held accountable, the Moldovan social protection bodies were notified to take the boy back into the family, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the Ministry of Social Protection, Family and Child.
The municipal division for children’s rights protection assessed the situation of the minor’s family. He has only mother who looks after five children, four out of who minors. The boy returned to the biological family. The local authorities will monitor the family so as to offer the assistance needed to overcome the difficulties.
The repatriation mission was organized by the Ministry of Social Protection, Family and Child with the support of the International Organization for Migration’s Office in Moldova. This is the first repatriation mission from the EU and the ninth mission organized by the Ministry this year. Five missions have been carried out in Russia, three in Ukraine and one in Ireland. Forty-one children have been repatriated overall.
