The Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Andrei Stratan convened at a meeting with the special representative of the General Secretariat of the Council of Europe to Chisinau, Vladimir Filipov, on the necessity of starting negotiations regarding the positive finishing of the monitoring procedure of the Republic of Moldova by CoE. According to a press release of MFAIE, the parties also convened on drafting a new joint Program of the European Commission and Council of Europe on supporting democratic reforms in Moldova for 2007-2009. The minister of Foreign Affairs met with the special representative if the General Secretariat of CoE, Vladimir Filipov, on the occasion his mandate ending. The Ambassador Filipov emphasized the fact that during his stay in Moldova it has substantially progressed, becoming a solid dialogue partner with the international and regional structures. “I am firmly convinced of the fact that the reforms implemented in the direction of European integration fully correspond to the aspirations of the Moldovan people, the place of which is within the European Union”, Filipov said. The Minister Stratan pleaded in favor of European partners’ support in offering the preferential visa system for the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, including opening as fast as possible the Unique Center for visa issuance in the EU space. The head of the Moldovan diplomacy expressed his conviction that the European community will pass to concrete actions related to offering Moldova the Preferential regime of Asymmetric Trade. At the meeting, Vladimir Filipv presented Vladimir Ristovski, who will take over the leadership of the special representative Office of the General Secretariat of the Council of Europe in Moldova.
