The legislative body ratified the framework agreement with the European Union on Moldova’s participation in EU crisis management operations, which was signed in Brussels on December 13, 2012. The Communist MPs voted against, saying that by this agreement the Moldovans are transformed into cannon fodder, IPN reports.
Acting Deputy Prime Minister Iurie Leanca said that the participation in such operations will contribute to improving the country’s prestige at foreign level.
Under the agreement, it is within the EU’s competence to invite third countries to take part in a crisis management operation. For its part, Moldova can accept the EU’s invitation and can offer its contribution.
The EU will furnish Moldova with information about the possible contribution to the joint baskets of the operations, assisting thus the country in formulating its own offer. All the costs will be incurred by Moldova.
