Priests, archpriests and members of disciplinary commissions, together with the Metropolitan Bishop of Chisinau and all Moldova, His Holiness Vladimir, proposed setting up a metropolitan commission on social problems. The initiative was made public in the Assembly of the Centru Diocese, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The commission is to include representatives of the Church, faithful persons and specialists from different areas, such as jurists, doctors, teachers, psychologists, social workers, and engineers. They will analyze different social problems and challenges and will formulate recommendations and proposals for the Synod of the Orthodox Church.
“We are concerned about the events that took place during the last few years, as the Orthodox Church of Moldova, especially the Moldovan Metropolitan Church, has been subject to denigration attacks in society. The contemporary political trends often go against the Christian moral norms and cause disagreements between people. Paradoxically, we live in a Christian-Orthodox environment, but a large part of the Christians are far from the spirit of the religion into which they were welcomed. Thus, the Christians often accept anti-Christian norms and values,” it is said in the resolution adopted in the Assembly of the Centru Diocese.
During the last few weeks, the Moldovan Metropolitan Church has been accused of not taking steps to prevent the adoption of the Law on Guaranteeing of Equality.
