The Metropolitan Church of Chisinau and all Moldova considers that the statements made by a group of Orthodox Christians in a press briefing on April 2 represent an attempt to denigrate the Metropolitan Bishop, His Holiness Vladimir. Those persons said that the Metropolitan Bishop didn’t adopt a position on the projected sexual minorities’ parade and the sexual education books available in school libraries and this silence becomes dangerous. They also said that His Holiness Vladimir should either take steps or resign as Pope Benedict XVI, IPN reports.
In reaction, the Metropolitan Church called on the Orthodox Christians not to disrupt social peace, especially in Lent, when harmony and understanding between people are especially necessary.
The Church said that despite the pressure and the insistence on abandoning the struggle for the cause of unity, the Metropolitan Church of Chisinau and all Moldova remains faithful to the ideals promoted on the way to achieving the Christian and spiritual aspirations that are determining for our nation.
