The national currency is not only an element of the state. It plays an important role in the economy. The improvement of the quality of the national currency and the growing of the number of cashless payments are among the strategic objectives of the National Bank of Moldova, said the Bank’s governor Octavian Armașu. The celebrations that will be held on the occasion of the 28th anniversary of the Moldovan lei will start with a festive event to launch commemorative and jubilee coins, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the Bank.
The event will take place at the National Bank on November 29 and will be broadcast live on the website of the NBM and on Facebook and Youtube.
The same day, the National Bank of Moldova’s museum, between 1am and 5pm, will host an exhibition where the visitors will be able to familiarize themselves with the history of the national currency. To ensure the observance of the sanitary norms, by ten persons will be allowed to enter on the presentation of a COVID-19 certificate, except for children. Those who want can register through edufin@bnm.md until November 28 inclusive.
Students of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication Science of the State University of Moldova will take part in a training workshop entitled “How is money put into circulation”. Also, experts of the central bank will tell about the safety elements of the national currency.
