Moldovan-Latvian partnerships in achieving European goal

The establishment of partnerships between various institutions from Moldova and Latvia was encouraged during the meeting between Latvian President Andris Berzins and Moldovan Minister of Foreign Affairs Iurie Leanca. Berzins reiterated Latvia’s commitment to actively support the achievement of Moldova’s European goal, including by providing assistance, Info-Prim Neo reports. The meeting took place on September 17, during the official visit of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Iurie Leanca in Latvia on September 14-17. The two officials appreciated the great bilateral political relations and the interest to deepen economic cooperation. They reviewed the topics of common interest and cooperation in regard of achieving Moldova’s European goals. As concerns the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, the Latvian President stressed that Latvia firmly supported the Moldovan authorities’ efforts to reintegrate the country according to the principles of territorial integrity and sovereignty. Deputy PM Iurie Leanca’s schedule included meetings with many Latvian officials. The meeting with Latvian Minister of Foreign Affairs Edgars Rinkevic focused on the examination of the current state of the relations between Moldova and Latvia and prospects of development of bilateral collaboration. The two sides pleaded for the active exploration of economic potential, for the implementation of mutually advantageous projects and for attracting investments into Moldova. The visit to Latvia is a proof of the spirit of friendship and collaboration and of the dialogue between the two countries, marking the anniversary of two decades since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Moldova and Latvia.
