The Botanica court of law recently sentenced a 34-year-old citizen of Moldova, who killed two building site colleagues from Ukraine while working in the Czech Republic, to 13 years behind bars, Info-Prim Neo has learned from the Prosecutor General’s Office. The case happened in a workers’ hostel in Prague in 2009. The Ukrainians were beaten brutally to death. The bodies were found in a locked hostel room on January 12. Meanwhile, the Moldovan returned home by train. The police in Prague started a legal case over double murder. At the request of the Czech authorities, the case was taken over by the Prosecutor General’s Office of Moldova on January 27, 2011. Questioned by the prosecutors, the culprit said that he did not intend to kill the two, only to punish them for smoking marihuana. Two more Moldovans were suspected of involvement in the given case, but the charges against them were dropped owing to lack of evidence.
