Moldovan experts to leave for Moscow in order to resume wine exports to Russia

Next week, the experts of the Agro-industrial Agency “Moldova-Vin” will leave for Moscow at the Russia’s “Rospotrebnadzor” Sanitary Service in order to discuss, at technical level, the possibility of resuming exports of Moldovan wines on the Russian market. This fact was made public to the press on Friday October 27 by the prime-deputy-prime minister Zinaida Grecianyi. According to her, within the frameworks of the discussions, the Russian side will present the quality standards that the Moldovan wine production will have to fulfill in order to be again accepted on the Russian market. Subsequently, a delegation of “Rospotrebnadzor” will come to Chisinau in order to work with concrete wine enterprise, which might ensure fulfillment of these standards Asked if it is possible that Russian side decides favorably only about resuming exports of the enterprise with Russian capital, Grecianyi mentioned that the chief sanitary doctor of Russia, Ghenadie Onishchenko denied this fact and declared that the only thing that matters is the quality of the production. “We maintain our standpoint, and namely diversifying the markets, but Moldovan will be successful only with high-quality production”, Grecianyi said, mentioning that Moldova will have to comply with the standards requested by the external markets. According to the last agreements with the Russian officials, the prime-deputy prime minister mentioned that most probably, the next meeting of the joint Russian-Moldovan commission will take place on November 27. On this date the conditions and the future economic collaboration action plans will be approved and a favorable decision for both parties will be made, Zinaida Grecianyi declared, cited by Info-Prim Neo. The embargo on the import of Moldovan wines was imposed by Moscow on March 27, 2006. The Federal Sanitary Service of Russia ordered on that date to destroy all the batches of Moldovan and Georgian cognacs and wines from the territory of Moscow. The Russian side said that the wines have a high level of noxious substances. The analysts, however, say that the decision is political, and is meant to “punish” authorities from Chisinau and Tbilisi for strengthening their relations with the Western powers.
