The Moldovan experts which participated on 15 and 16 May 2006, together with their Ukrainian colleagues at a joint inspection of the Moldovan-Ukrainian cross border check points “Palanca-Maiaki-Udobnoe” and “Pervomaisk-Kuciurgan” do not agree upon setting the Moldovan check point in Maiaki-Udobnoe. According to the official report of the inspection, the Moldovan experts consider that the customs activity of the both sides could be performed on the territory of the Republic of Moldova at the Palanca check point. The Ukrainian experts state that for placing the customs service of the Republic of Moldova to Maiaki-Udobnoe some significant repairs of the building destined for the check point are needed. At the same time, the Moldovan experts showed their availability to install the check-point from Cuciurgani in minibuses, justifying that the Ukrainians can not offer a building in this locality. In the end, the sides agreed upon informing the leadership of the customs service about the results of the joint inspection and will elaborate in one month the joint control mechanism at the cross border check points Udobnoe-Maiaki-Palanca and Pervomaisk-Kuciurgan. Recently in Kiev, the leadership of the Moldovan and Ukrainian customs services agreed to resume the discussions regarding the settlement of a joint control on the Transnistrian segment check points, after signing the joint Protocols about the check points Palanca-Maiki-Udobnoe and Pervomaisk-Kuciurgan.
