Moldovan-Estonian political consultations on European integration

Representatives of Moldova and Estonia met at bilateral political consultations centering on the European integration in Tallinn on November 25, IPN has learned from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova.

Moldova’s delegation was led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Daniela Morari, while the Estonian one by the acting undersecretary for political affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Paul Teesalu.

In the event, Daniela Morari spoke about the progress made by Moldova in implementing the Association Agreement, the medium-term priorities for advancing the European integration agenda and the opportunity of identifying methods of developing the relations with the European Union.

On the dimension of political dialogue, the officials examined the current state of the bilateral relations, appreciating the advanced level of cooperation between the two states in different areas. The latest security-related evolutions in the region, relations with the neighboring states and possibilities of cooperating within the EU Common Foreign and Security Policy represented separate subjects for discussion.

Given that Estonia will take over the Presidency of the Council of the EU in the second half of 2017, the sides exchanged opinions on the preparations for the future Eastern Partnership Summit.

The agenda of the visit included a meeting with the chairman of the European Union Affairs Committee of the Estonian Parliament Kalle Palling and a series of fact-finding visits to the Estonian Center of Eastern Partnership, the e-Governance Academy and e-Estonia Showroom, where there were explored possibilities of launching Moldovan-Estonian technical assistance projects for 2017.
