Moldovan Diaspora to benefit of Government’s support

The Government will implement until 2009, an action plan for the support of persons born in Moldova who live abroad. The document includes a series of measures related to protecting the rights of Moldovans living abroad, supporting Diaspora’s national schools, access of young person living abroad to studies in higher and pre-higher education institutions – rest in the camps of Moldova, supporting Diaspora’s cultural organizations. Politically and diplomatically, it is planned to create the office of honorific consul of Moldova in the residence countries of the Diaspora, where no such institutions exist and applying cross-border and cross-regional cooperation in order to support the Diaspora etc. The program also includes actions on involving Moldovan businessmen in promoting Moldovan production abroad, to ease the document’s issuance procedure for the citizens born in Moldova, local public authorities, scientific circles and creation unions, cultural societies and NGOs, media institutions. To the implementation of this program different state structures will contribute, including ministries and departments, diplomatic missions of Moldova, local public authorities, scientific circles and creation unions, cultural societies and NGOs, media institutions. Financial resources for the actions included in the program will be offered within the financial possibilities of the persons responsible for its implementation, as well as from their special resources. Program’s implementation process will be monitored by the Interethnic Relationship Bureau.
