The Moldovan delegation to the Joint Control Commission (JCC) recommends initiating an independent international monitoring, which can be carried out by the OSCE, of the location of the military units in the Security Zone. The subject was proposed for examination in this week’s meeting of the commission. As the quorum was not present, it was agreed that the discussions will be continued in the ordinary meeting of next week, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In a communiqué, the Reintegration Office says that the Moldovan delegation reiterated the request to include the transformation of the unilateral military peacekeeping post No. 10 of Russia into a trilateral one in the meeting’s agenda. They said that this post should be adjusted to the real conditions in the Security Zone, while control over the movement of the military units in Bender town should be improved.
There was mentioned the March 1 incident when representatives of the Transnistrian militia crossed this peacekeeping post, entered Bender and carried out inspections at a company in this town by using force agsissnt persons.
The Moldovan delegation expressed its regret at the fact that the competent bodies of the peacekeeping mission weren’t informed about this incident. Under the existing regulations, any action of the law enforcement bodies in the Security Zone is taken with the consent of the Joint Control Commission. The Russian and Transnistrian delegations to the JCC rejected the proposal to include this issue in the agenda.
