A tripartite delegation of Moldova is taking part in the International Labor Conference, which is also called the international labor parliament, between June 8 and 13. The conference opened on May 28 in the Swiss town of Geneva, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the representative office of the International Labor Organization (ILO) in Moldova. According to the national coordinator of ILO Moldova, Ala Lipciu, the International Labor Conference brings together tripartite delegations – Government, Employer and Worker – from the 178 ILO member states. Every delegate has the same rights, and all can express themselves freely and vote as they wish. So it happens that worker and employer delegates sometimes vote against their government's representatives or against each other. This diversity of viewpoints, however, does not prevent decisions being adopted by very large majorities, or in some cases even unanimously, Ala Lipcu said. The delegation is composed of the Deputy Minister of Economy and Trade Sergiu Sainciuc, the president of the National Employers Confederation (NEC) Leonid Cerescu, the president of the National Confederation of Trade Unions of Moldova (NCTU) Leonid Manea, the executive director of the NEC Adrian Axenti, the vice president of the NCTU Mihail Hancu and the permanent representative of Moldova to the UN Geneva Office Tatiana Lapicus. The delegation members have the right to actively engage in the discussion of the subjects included in the agenda of the conference. Among these are problems related to decent work, child work in agriculture, labor relations in fish breeding, the equality of chances etc. The conference participants will hear the ILO director general’s global report on the promotion of the fundamental principles and rights at work and the problems concerning the promotion of employment in rural areas with the aim of reducing poverty, strengthening the capacities for enhancing productivity and improving employment. The international organizations attend the conference as observers.
