Moldovan customs and folklore will provide the background for a Moldo-Romanian film co-production. The full-length movie called “Nunta in Basarabia” (“A Wedding in Bessarabia”) will start shooting this June, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to its director Napoleon Helmis, the film tells the story of a young couple who wish to get married. The Romanian groom and the Bessarabian bride decide to throw a wedding party in Chisinau to earn money for a house. A family film, the Wedding in Bessarabia will promote Moldovan traditions and folklore. Although there are several candidates for the leading roles and the shooting is to start soon, the producers are still looking. The model that inspires the director of the movie are the Russian quality films taken as a group. The Russian cinematography is among the word's elite and a benchmark in the history of the art of film-making, Napoleon Helmis explained. The movie will be shot in the Republic of Moldova because, the director says, here you can find the perfect blend of lyricism and comic situations for a perfect movie. The shooting for the film will last for some 25 days, with the support of two Moldovan studios. The budget is estimated at 150,000 euros, money provided by the Romanian government and private donations.
