The UNIFIL-2 contingent of the National Army was deployed today to the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) peacekeeping mission.
A ceremony was held on this occasion at Military Camp 142, attended by Minister of Defense Anatolie Nosatîi, the Italian Ambassador Lorenzo Tomassoni, the UN Resident Coordinator Simon Springett, the National Security Committee chair Lilian Carp, representatives of the National Security Committee of the Romanian Parliament, military attachés and relatives of the deployed troops.
UNIFIL-2 consists of 33 professional soldiers, including three women, who will perform security and patrolling missions.
The decision to deploy troops to the UNIFIL operation was approved by Parliament in November 2021.
