This year’s National Wine Day comes with an important novelty: the 45 participating companies will present their products under the common country brand name “Wine of Moldova. Living legend”, IPN reports.
Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vasile Bumacov expressed his satisfaction with the fact that the winemakers joined their efforts in a move to strengthen the image of the Moldovan wines. “The wines that will be presented on the National Wine Day will be made only from imported sorts of grapes that were homologated in our country and from Moldovan sorts. The wines from the national sorts were highly appreciated on the U.S. market,” he stated.
Director of the National Office of Vine and Wine Dumitru Munteanu noted that the cultural-cognitive character of the event is another novelty of this year’s Wine Day. “We want the people to know more about our winemaking traditions, the legends of some wines and the people who made them,” he said.
The Wine Town that will be set up in the Great National Assembly Square will be divided into the three areas: Area of Craftsmen; Area of Creators, and the Wine School where the visitors will learn how to taste wine.
There will be awarded the Top Prize for special accomplishments in winegrowing and winemaking, the medal “120 years of the birth of oenologist Petru Ungureanu”, the prize for the best presentation and the prize for the best interaction with the public at the stand. For the convenience of visitors, there will be set up four information points that will distribute leaflets and brochures and will sell glasses with the event’s logo.
Eugen Pislaru, vice president of the Association of Wine Producers and Exporters of Moldova, said the National Wine Day is particularly important for the sector and is an occasion for showing that Moldova can produce wines of a high quality, especially to the visitors from abroad.
The National Wine Day will be organized at a cost of 2.8 million lei. A sum of 2 million lei will be allocated from the budget of the National Office of Vine and Wine, while the rest will represent sponsorship.
