Moldovan citizens to be limited to find workplace in Russia

As of 1 January 2007, migrants from other states will be limited to employ in the Russian Federation in the fields such as selling alcoholic and pharmaceutical products.
According to the minister of Health Protection and Social Development in Russia, Mihail Zurabov, quoted by RIA Novosti, starting January 1 2007, the level of migrants’ employment in the two fields will not exceed the quote of 40% of the total number of workplaces. Afterwards, it is expected to exclude migrants from this sphere of activity.
Earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin called the authorities’ attention to the necessity of adopting new certain norms that would redress the situation concerning the flows of labor force from CIS countries, so that to take into account the interests of the Russian people.
According to unofficial data, over 200,000 Moldovan citizens are working in the Russian Federation.
