A man aged 27 from Straseni district was arrested in Moscow on suspicion that he formed part of a group trafficking in hashish. His duty was to convey the merchandise. In the suspect’s car, the police found 45 kilograms of hashish.

According to the General Police Inspectorate, during several months the suspect had been followed by the Moldovan law enforcement bodies, which informed their counterparts in Russia about this case. When the man entered this country, he was arrested by the Russian police. The drugs were smuggled from Spain.

Press officer of the National Investigations Inspectorate Natalia Golovko has told IPN that this case is not related to the previous case when a record quantity of 100 kilograms of hashish brought from Spain was seized and five persons suspected of drug distribution were arrested.

The head of the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office Maria Vieru said the investigation into the case concerning the record amount of hashish is close to an end and the arrested persons will be soon brought to justice.
