Travelers criticize the disorder in the public transport working on suburban routes. They are indignant at the fact that they have to breathe in dust every time they take the bus. The trips become insupportable especially in summer. On the other hand, the administration of the Urban Bus Company says that the vehicles are washed every evening. This task was entrusted to a special department, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The buses are dirty all day round. We travel in dust in any part of the day, said a resident of Ghidighici village, who wished to remain anonymous.
Gratiesti inhabitant Mariana Casap said that the clothes become full of dust shortly after getting onto the bus. The trips in double-compartment buses are the most intolerable as the dust gets in through the old rubber that joins the two parts of the bus, rises in the air and makes breathing impossible.
The mayors of suburban settlements say the administration of the Urban Bus Company should deal with the cleaning of buses. They also say that no passenger came to the Mayor’s Office to complain about the sanitation conditions in public transport.
According to the mayor of Ghidighici Ion Beglet, the Company’s administration is responsible for the management of transport, while the local administrations only supervise the transportation services.
The mayor of Gratiesti village Valentina Patras said to Info-Prim Neo that the local public authorities cannot solve the transport sanitation problems. They can only ask the administrators of the Urban Bus Company to carry out their duties properly.
Asked by Info-Prim Neo, the deputy technical director of the Urban Bus Company Andrei Coval said that the outside of the buses is washed in an automated way every evening. Inside, the buses are brushed and washed manually with detergents. The floor is washed; the windows and seats are cleaned.
Coval also said that about 90,000 lei a spent on the maintenance of the buses every month. The number of buses traveling on suburban routes has been reduced as there are not resources for purchasing fuel.
