“We are happy that Moldova is starting this exercise with a common meeting with the Romanian government and we’re sure this meeting will be followed by others. Our wish is to identify several projects until the meeting that are suited for this format of discussion. That’s why we seek to make an inventory of strategic projects”, Romanian ambassador in Chisinau Marius Lazurca told a Press Club meeting, referring to the intergovernmental meeting that will take place on March 3, Info-Prim Neo reports. The diplomat said that strategic projects meant projects that served Moldova’s and Romania’s fundamental political orientations. For Moldova, this means projects related to Moldova’s connecting to the economic, social, political and moral space of the EU. “The goal of this intergovernmental summit includes all the interconnection projects of gas pipes, electricity transmission lines, bridges, railways and everything that links Moldova to Romania’s infrastructure and the economic, political and social space Romania joined in 2007”, said Marius Lazurca. He remarked that the summit had a consistent agenda, but not a final one, as preparations for the intergovernmental meeting were underway. “The symbolic and thus political dimension of the common meeting is very important and absolutely essential for me. Common government meetings are a political and executive practice pretty usual in the European Union. Romania has such work formats with cabinets from Hungary, Italy, Bulgaria, Israel and Poland. These are important examples. The natural premise is that neighboring countries have a large list of projects of common interest”, stressed the ambassador. According to Marius Lazurca, these projects require competences of several ministries and a complex effort of coordination between them. The most natural format to solve the set of common projects is the intergovernmental summit of the two cabinets. The meeting of Moldovan and Romanian governments will take place on March 3, in Iasi.
