The businessmen from Romania and Moldova succeed to create starting 2002, the most important bridge - the one of economic integration of the two states, this being the most important basis that will decide radically the policy related to European integration process, declared, on Friday, June 30, the Romanian ambassador to Chisinau, Filip Teodorescu, during the Moldovan and Romanian business forum, that took place at the International Exhibition Complex “Moldexpo.” According to the ambassador, from 2002 till 2005, the commercial relations between the Republic of Moldova and Romania almost tripled: from 1 million dollars to 3 million dollars. The second place that Romania has in the total commercial exchange of Moldova and the place that the Republic of Moldova holds in the economic relations of Romania is significant; place comparable or even bigger then that of Romania with other developed states from Europe: Portugal, Sweden, Norway, Slovakia, Slovenia, the quoted source said. The present situation of the relations between the Republic of Moldova and Romania was characterized by the ambassador as a stabile one, assisting the accomplishment of a benefic bilateral integration from the point of view of the European project. 95% from the economic exchanges between the two states are horizontal industry exchange products: products that represent the final product of the two states. Filip Teodorescu underlined the fact that once Romania adheres to the EU, it doesn’t want to become from the point of view of people or goods circulation capacity, a border in direct sense. “ On the contrary, we wish that this border to be established in an European manner, to facilitate contacts, to encourage bilateral changes, to represent a simple stage when the Republic of Moldova will become itself EU member”, said the ambassador. In this context, Teodorescu mentioned the support that Romania offers to the Republic of Moldova on the European path, support that shows in all contacts and dialogue between the leadership of the country with European actors. The head of the Romanian diplomatic mission declared that Bucharest will continue to be one of the main partners of the European opportunity of the Republic of Moldova. The ambassador mentioned that the agreement regarding the visa regime signed between Romania and the Republic of Moldova will stipulate special facilities for businessmen, will allow the continuity and value of all accomplishment in the field of economic integration between the two states. During the Forum the governmental officials and Romanian and Moldovan specialist discussed the issues of great interest as accessing European funds by the Republic of Moldova, with the Romanian support; potential involvements in the commercial relations between Romania and the Republic of Moldova after the EU adherence; the harmonization of the Romanian energetic system with the Moldovan ones; connecting the economy of the Republic of Moldova to the European one through developing transport infrastructure.
