The Agriculture Chapter in the future Association Agreement between Moldova and the European union has been almost finalized due to the correct prioritizing of the Government's activities, said Waldemar Sochaczewski, EU High Level Advisor to the Moldovan Agriculture Minister, at a press club dedicated to European Integration, Info-Prim Neo reports. “The Agriculture Chapter is almost agreed at the technical level. The European Commission proposed a list of legal requirements which was agreed as an annex to the Agreement in order to implement over 30 EU regulations and directives. We are working at the Ministry now to prepare an action plan for implementing these regulations”, said Waldemar Sochaczewski. The priorities set by the future Association Agreement are related to food safety, quality standards, the free trade area, and the geographical protection identification. “That is a correct prioritizing of activities”, said Waldemar Sochaczewski. “Because of your country's location, you have unique opportunities to produce goods that are specific to this part of Europe. A separate agreement between the EU and Moldova will be signed on the geographical identification in order to protect your country's special products. These will be very advantageous agreements which will support your agriculture and trade balance”, said Waldemar Sochaczewski. The EU High Level Policy Advice Mission to the Republic of Moldova consists of 9 international experts who advise the management of public institutions in carrying out democratic reforms and acceleration of association and further economic integration between EU and Moldova. The EU Advisory Group has experts at the following institutions: the Prime Minister’s Office, State Chancellery, the Ministries of Economy, Finance, Justice, Interior, Agriculture and Food Industry, Tax Inspectorate and Public Procurement Agency.
