The Moldovan national women's under-17 football team was defeated by France 8:1 in its second qualifying match for the 2012 European Championship, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The game, played on Sunday in Chisinau's suburban town of Vadul lui Voda, was dominated by the French side, who finished second in last year's European Championship. The only goal of the hosts was scored by Victoria Gurdisi on the 52nd minute. The disaster for the Moldovan side came on the last minute when France managed to score as many as three goals. This result advances France to the second round of the Championship.
Despite the categorical defeat, the team coached by Igor Spaniora still have a chance to qualify for the next round thanks to the victory over Wales in the first match.
In their last qualifying match on Wednesday, Moldova will encounter the Faroe Islands who haven't earned any points yet.
