The Republic of Moldova witnesses a serious problem related to the functioning of state institutions. Furthermore, the freedom of expression is seriously infringed, director of the Institute for Development and Social Initiative “Viitorul” Igor Munteanu was quoted by IPN as saying in the talk show “People’s Council” on 10TV channel.

Igor Munteanu said the people in the Government consider they can monopolize the public sector, the symbols of independence of this states and can live without having independent judiciary. “This seems paradoxical to me at a distance of 27 years of the separation from the USSR. I have the impression that the USSR left indelible imprints on many of the functionaries of the USSR, which we could probably remove by real lustration on particular segments,” he stated, noting lustration is an indispensable element in restoring the democratic institutions.

Analyst Anatol Țăranu said all the people, including those from abroad, understand that the current government is not legitimate. The power in Moldova will survive as long as the political opposition in the country is poor and dispersed. “Until there are several opposition columns in the Republic of Moldova, the government can sleep calmly,” he noted.
