The women’s national team of Moldova scored a convincing 3-1 victory against the Lithuanian squad in the sixth round of the World Chess Olympiad. This was the fourth victory won by the Moldovan women chess players so far. The men’s team lost to Iran’s team 1.5–2.5, IPN reports.
Grand master Elena Partac and masters Diana Baciu and Olga Hancu beat their opponents, while grand masters Viorel Bologan and Viorel Iordachescu and master Vladimir Hamitsevich drew.
In the seventh round, the men’s team meets the team of the United Arab Emirates, while the women’s team plays against the squad of Bulgaria. In the rounds played until now, the men’s team scored three victories, suffered two defeats and had a draw, while the women’s team won four victories and suffered two defeats.
