Moldova took the 12th position in the medal rankings at the European U-21 Taekwondo WTF Championships, Olympic version, which closed on April 21. The competition took place at the Polyvalent Hall in Chisinau.
The national squad obtained two medals. Andrei Rotaru won silver in the 63kg class, while Vladislav Arventi won bronze in the 68kg class. Russia topped the rankings with four golds, three silvers, and four bronzes.
On the last day of the competition, the Moldovan athletes didn’t impress the public. Brothers Vadim and Stepan Dimitrov were eliminated in the second round, while Cristina Scutelnic and Maria Lupascu lost the very first battles.
Moldova was represented by 13 sportspersons at the competition.
The fourth European U-21 Taekwondo Championships, Olympic version, brought together over 300 athletes from 42 countries. The event was organized at a cost of over €200,000.
