Moldova has won nine medals at the Youth Dragon Boat World Championships that were held in Italy’s Venice, IPN reports.
The 24 athletes of the club “Vulturii” won seven gold medals, a silver and a bronze in the 200, 500 and 2,000 meter races, both in singles and in mixed. Earlier, the Dragon Boat team from Drochia competed in other international competitions.
The Dragon Boat World Championships are recognized by the International Canoe Federation. Dragon Boat is a large canoe of 20 places where a drummer stays ahead and hits the big tambour, giving a pace to the race.
