Moldova ranked fifth by nations at the World Pankration Championship held in Hungary, winning four medals. Two of them are gold medals and were obtained by Dumitru Capmari and Pavel Pocatilov, IPN reports.
Capmari won in pankration submission and traditional in the 77 kg class, while Pocatilov became victorious in Free Style MMA among amateurs in the 84 kg class. Pocatilov also took part in pankration submission and traditional and finished third in this event.
“Pocatilov had to win in pankration submission and traditional too, but was penalized by the referee in the semifinal match against Akhmed Reshidov of Russia”, Moldova coach Ion Gheorghiu has told IPN.
Cristian Buca won silver in pankration traditional in the 71 kg class. The competition involved about 300 athletes from 13 countries.
