The national squad of Moldova won four medals at the Junior European Judo Championships that took place in Austria. The silver was won by Nicon Zaboroshchiuk, IPN reports.
In the 81kg class, he scored four victories, but lost to Frank de Witt of the Netherlands in the final. Another three Moldovan judokas won bronze medals. In the 81kg class, Dorin Gotonoaga had to go again through the qualifying rounds for climbing on to the winner’s rostrum.
Bronzes were also won by Cristina Budescu (48kg class) and Denis Vieru (60kg class). All the medalists are students of the National Residential Sports Lyceum.
