Moldovan wrestlers have won four gold medals and three bronze medals at the Muaythai Open Cup of Europe that took place in Antalya between November 29 and December 3, IPN reports.
Moldova was represented by seven wrestlers and each of them won by a medal. David Chiperi and Ion Ungurean won gold after having by four fights. Igor Duca and Gheorghe Plesca emerged victorious after having by three fights.
Vlad Gorbatiuc, Igor Vartic and Marius Covali medalled bronze. The competition involved 493 athletes from 15 countries.
The Muaythai Federation of Moldova congratulated the athletes and coaches Andrei Grosu and Vlad Dima, who contributed to this success.
President of the Muaythai Federation of Moldova Artur Grosu said 2017 is a fruitful year for Moldovan wrestlers. In summer, Moldova won two golds and three silvers at the Muaythai Youth World Championships in Thailand. Also, one athlete ranked fifth and won the trophy “Rising Star”.
Those who like muaythai are invited to the National Muaythai Championships that will take place at the Railway Workers Palace in Chisinau during December 16-17, 2017.
