Moldova wins five more medals at Universiade

The Moldovan athletes on July 9 won another five medals at the World University Games held in Russia’s Kazan, IPN reports.

Boxers Dumitru Galagot (64 kg class) and Alexandru Rascan (52 kg) won bronzes in semifinals, being beaten by Artur Kirajyan of Armenia and, respectively, Mihail Aloian of Russia.

In classical wrestling (koresh), Maxim Mamulat (60 kg) lost the decisive duel against Russia’s Nafis Minnebaiev 4-0, winning silver. Wrestlers Mihail Cosnicean (70 kg) and Anatolie Moldovan (100 kg) won bronze medals. Earlier, Anatolie Moldovan won a bronze in freestyle wrestling.

Athlete Serghei Marghiev ranked eighth in the final of hammer throwing, while Olga Zaporojan was eliminated in the semifinals of the 800 m race. Olesea Cojuhari will compete in the final of the 400 m race today. 

After four days of competitions, the Moldovan squad won eight medals – one silver and seven bronzes.
