Moldova won 6 medals, including 2 gold medals at the International Mathematics Olympiad which took place in Ljubljana during July 6-18, 2006. 5 medals have been won by the students of Moldovan-Turk Lyceum of Chisinau.
Gold medals were given to Iurie Boreico, XI grade and Ivan Borsenco, XII grade of Moldovan-Turk Lyceum. Boreico obtained 42 points out of 42 possible.
The silver medal was won by Alexandr Zamorzaev – Orleanschi – XI grade of Moldovan-Turk Lyceum.
The bronze medals were won by the students of XII grade of “Prometeu” lyceum – Viatlaie Patranica and the students of Moldovan-Turk Lyceum – Andrei Frimu –X grade and Liubomir Chiriac – XI grade.
492 students from 90 countries participated in the International Mathematics Olympiad, 47th edition. The team of the Republic of Moldova was composed of 6 students and 2 teachers.
