Minister of Agriculture Vasile Bumacov regrets that Russia is maintaining its ban on Moldovan wines. Speaking at a talk show on Radio Moldova, the official said that negotiations with Russia to resume wine exports continue, IPN reports.
“I've been to Moscow four times since September last year, when the embargo was announced. Each and every time they promised us the interdiction would be lifted in a week, but it never happened. We don't know what the problem is anymore. We've met all the requirements put forward by our Russian partners. But we'll continue the negotiations”, said the Minister.
Vasile Bumacov said he would talk with his Russian opposite number Nicolai Fedorov, whom he will meet the next days at the Green Week exhibition in Berlin. “We'll also continue talks with other Russian authorities until we reach an agreement suitable for both sides and for the Russian consumers who like Moldovan wines”, he said.
The official added that the first wine consignment under the recently launched national brand “Wine of Moldova” would be exported to the EU quite soon, in the framework of an international exhibition also taking place in Berlin.
