Moldovan society must be powerful to avoid possible scenarios of violence similar to those in Ukraine, said President of the European Economic and Social Committee Henri Malosse, who is in Chisinau on a working visit. “We must know to learn lessons from the tragic events taking place in Kiev and the Moldovan citizens should be told that they must not choose between the East and the West,” said Henri Malosse, quoted by IPN.
He also said that Russia feels threatened by Moldova’s European prospects and thus erects commercial obstacles to the country and imposes bans on the migrants. There are many means that can serve as elements of pressure. So that Russia has no other pretexts, a dialogue should be launched with the Russian side in the commercial sphere.
Another element in overcoming the crisis in the process of coming closer to the EU is the recognition of the specific features of the Gagauz people, while the most important thing is to ensure social cohesion. The official added that the Moldovan political forces mustn’t use the European prospects for political purposes, but after a meeting with the political leaders he realized that such a danger exists.
