Moldova will have better chances of being accepted into the European Union if the Alliance for European Integration (AEI) remains in power. It is crucial for the members of the AEI to be united and avoid disagreements within the Alliance, Romanian MEP Cristian Busoi said in a news conference held at Info-Prim Neo on Saturday.
“The European Union approves of the behavior of the Alliance for European Integration, its efforts to make progress on the path to European integration and of the reforms implemented in this short period of time” said Cristian Busoi, adding that the MEPs supported and will continue to support Moldova’s efforts to become part of the EU until Moldova remains a stable partner, not only a partner that meets certain requirements of the EU.
“It is evident that a Democratic and pro-European government was established in Moldova after the July 2009 elections. Moldova enjoys unprecedented support from the EU, which is ready to invest a lot in the relations with Moldova,” said the MEP.
Cristian Busoi also said that the EU expects that the AEI will be united after the parliamentary elections. “Despite small misunderstandings, we are sure that the Alliance will maintain its current composition. The Moldova Noastra Alliance always played a very important, stabilizing role within the Alliance and should be taken as example by the other member parties. Moldova can become an EU member only if it is governed by Democratic forces. The EU already started to support Moldova through special financing programs and will continue to provide support,” he said.
According to Cristian Busoi, Moldova’s integration into the EU will bring advantages to both of the sides. There are a number of technical problems that should be dealt with, including the securing of travel documents and illegal migration, he stated.
