Five athletes will represent Moldova at the Sochi Olympic Games that start in less than a month, IPN reports.
The Olympic delegation of Moldova includes Alexandra Camenshchik, Victor Panzaru (both cross-country skiing), Mirko Deflorian, Linder George (both Alpine skiing), and Bogdan Macovei (sledding).
The winter Olympics will take place between February 7 and February 23. Bogdan Macovei leaves for Sochi on February 2, while the other athletes go to Russia later.
“On January 20, we may gain one more Olympic place for skier Svetoslav Maliutin,” president of the Moldovan Biathlon Federation Petru Bria has told IPN.
Natalia Levchenkova has achieved the best result among Moldovan athletes at the winter Olympics so far. She ranked eighth in the biathlon 15 km individual race at the Torino 2006 Olympics.
