The Security and Information Service (SIS) provided details about the recent cyber attacks on the state institutions of Moldova. According to the Service, such security-related incidents have been identified earlier too, including on the information system of the SIS, but all the necessary measures were taken swiftly to counteract them, Info-Prim Neo reports. A number of media outlets informed that Moldova was the target of a cyber attack. Specialists of the Kaspersky Lab announced that a network of hackers spied four IPs in Moldova. They belong to a number of governmental and military institutions as well as embassies. According to the company, the offenders have acted since 2007 and the networks of a number of states in Eastern European and the CIS have been attacked meanwhile. The statement issued by the SIS on January 17 says that the Service during the last few years has identified a series of attempts to enter the information systems of the central public authorities, but they were annihilated promptly and there were provoked no damage or leaking of information that may affect the national security. In this connection, the SIS made recommendations to the users and operators in the field so that they prevent the leaking of restricted information within public institutions.
