Moldova managed to sign the Association Agreement with the EU owing to the diplomatic support at European level provided by the Government of Romania headed by Victor Ponta, Victor Alexeev, who heads the organization of the Romanian Social Democratic Party (PSD) in Moldova, said in a news conference at IPN.
“We realize that we didn’t fully meet the conditions for signing the Association Agreement. We obtained it practically in advance owing to our loyal advocate – the Ponta Government – because all the European institutions were assured by this Government that things in Moldova will move on and the country will comply with the signed accord,” stated Victor Alexeev.
“Victor Ponta is another kind of leader. He is a young man who has governed for two years already. He understood that the two states – Moldova and Romania – can develop together within the EU and made considerable effort to support this trend. I’m convinced that the people in Moldova, including those who hold also Romanian nationality, want their country to follow the path to the EU,” said PSD member Dumitru Buzatu, who heads the Vaslui County Council.
“Victor Ponta is the one who, together with Moldova’s Prime Minister Iurie Leanca, supported Moldova’s integration into the EU. We are the state and Parliament that ratified the first the Association Agreement between the EU and Moldova. Consequently, the Romanian dream can come true inside the EU, with determined people who are ready for action and for fulfilling their plans, not only for increasing their popular approval rating or charisma, as others do,” stated Adrian Solomon, who is a member of the Romanian Parliament representing the PSD.
The first round of presidential elections in Romania will take place on November 2. The second round, if necessary, will be held on November 16. Twenty-one polling places will be opened in Moldova for the Romanian presidential elections, four of which in Chisinau.
